After a weekend of rumours, a leaked picture and an early unveiling the official news, the NDA has been lifted and an official press release has been issued detailing the multi-player component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Uncharted being a new IP for naughty dog and their first title to hit the Playstation 3 was a hit with Playstation fans who enjoyed the gun slinging adventure, but also felt that the game was missing a vital part that almost every game released these days has, a multi-player. Uncharted 2 hopes to bring more than just a great single player experience, for those asking for those who want it, with a multi-player that can be played co-operatively or competitively.
The competitive mode will allow up to ten players in a 5vs5 round to battle off in locals from the single player experience. Playing in a ranked mode, players have the option of a death match style of game play or plunder mode, which involves using team work to transport a piece of treasure across the map. Co-operative mode will involve playing in a team of three to accomplish set goals through a level, so far it seems reminiscent of Resistance 2 and keeping its co-operative mode a separate entity from the single player.
Using currency gained from playing the different multi-player modes and also the single player, you can unlock more content which is not currently known and also upgrades, which one would assume is for your on-line character.
As mentioned in a previous post, the Uncharted 2 multi-player beta will be available for those who buy a copy of inFamous when it is released on 26th May, and will take place from June 3rd to the 28th.
The beta offer will be included in all copies from any store in the US, details on European access to the beta has yet to be disclosed but they have said to be working on something for the future.
