Another day, another Apple iPhone report. This time though, it's a bit different, with the folks at MacRumors getting their hands on a dummy model and going over every detail in meticulous fashion.
Off the bat, what you might notice is that the phone they are handling is silver on the back. Previously, we have seen renders and dummy models of the upcoming iPhone but it has most times been in a gloss black finish. As far as details go, it appears that the handset shown in the video is a dummy model that is used by case manufacturers before the smartphone's official release. Like previous images, the front houses the OLED display with cut outs on top for the ear piece, various sensors, and front-facing camera. On the rear, we can see the beautiful glass panel that is also host to the horizontal dual camera.
While the video does an excellent job of going over the details, we are still left without confirmation of where the Touch ID sensor will be located. In early reports, it was speculated that since Apple would be removing the physical home button, and that the fingerprint sensor would be embedded under the display. Unfortunately, recent reports state that Apple wasn't able to master this technology and could instead include the sensor on the rear or in the power button. There have also been reports that the firm will do away with it completely, opting for a 3D facial recognition camera instead.
While a date has not been announced, we should hear official word about the next iPhone sometime in the coming months. Until then, we will have to be content with the daily flood of rumors and leaks.
