If you have been expecting a package from United Parcel Service today and wanted to track the progress of said package, you most likely had a frustrating experience. Users who tried to type in their package tracking numbers at the UPS.com web site today found that the site was unable to complete the request.
The problems started early this morning Eastern time and have continued all day. In addition to the tracking number error messages, the site itself has also been slow to upload at times. A post on the official UPS Facebook page admits that the company is having some issues but doesn't give much in the way of details.
We are having technical difficulties and delays with some of our UPS customer-facing systems. This is an extremely rare occurrence and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please know we are treating this problem with urgency and our technical support teams are working to resolve this as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience as we work through the issue.
So far this online problem appears to be just a random technical issue. There is no indication that there are any cyber attacks that are currently underway on the UPS.com web site.
