The broadband and phone comparison site, uSwitch, has awarded O2 with its ‘Best Network Coverage’ award for the third year running. This news comes just days after nPerf said Vodafone has the best mobile internet performance in the UK and ranked O2 last. With O2 getting this latest recognition, those out in rural areas where mobile coverage can be sketchy may be best off using O2’s network.
Reflecting on the award win, Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer at O2, said:
“Our continued focus on the customer is what drives us and we’re proud to remain the nation’s largest network, providing award-winning coverage and great offerings such as flexible Custom Plans and limitless data. I’m extremely proud to have won this award for the third time in a row, as well as already winning three awards in 2020. We’ll continue to invest in our network and relentlessly focus on amazing customer service to ensure we’re in a position to win these awards next year too.”
The uSwitch ‘Best Network Coverage’ award is not awarded by the sole decision of the comparison website. To help decide the winner, a survey of 10,000 real customers is also taken into consideration which adds more credence to the award.
On the award-front, O2 is having a good year. One month in and the firm has already been awarded the ‘Most Reliable Network’ award by independent researchers GWS. The Institute of Customer Service also found that the carrier delivers the best customer service compared to the other major network operators. The fact that O2 has not yet won an award for best performance does suggest that nPerf may have been right to put the firm last in its recent report.
