Valkyrie Entertainment joins PlayStation Studios

Today, Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, announced that Valkyrie Entertainment was joining PlayStation Studios. The team has provided co-development support to many companies over the years, and right now it's helping Sony Santa Monica on the upcoming God of War Ragnarök.

Nowadays, it's common for external studios to help finish even first-party games, and Valkyrie Entertainment seems like a great fit given their experience with AAA games like the recently-released Halo Infinite.

Now that the team has more resources since it's part of PlayStation, hopefully it'll also be given the opportunity to create a unique game. GUNS UP! was a free-to-play strategy title for PC and PlayStation 4 that initially launched in 2015 as a console exclusive. It featured some great concepts, but the execution was lacking. Maybe Valkyrie Entertainment will surprise us in the future.

Both Microsoft and Sony have been on a studio-buying spree lately, with Microsoft scooping up Bethesda, and all of its games like Doom, The Elder Scrolls, and more.
