Well over a decade after the latest Half-life title, Valve announced Half-Life: Alyx in November last year, a full-length prequel to Half-Life 2 that's built from the ground up to be a virtual reality exclusive title. Other than a March release window, an exact launch date was not announced, but that has finally changed. Half-Life: Alyx is releasing on March 23 through Steam, just over a month from now.

Unlike previous games in the series, this VR venture will have Alyx Vance taking the protagonist role. Players will be seeing how the resistance we encounter in Half-Life 2 and episodes was formed by the Vance family in the early days of the alien invasion.
The bonuses that Valve Index VR system owners are receiving - in addition to a free copy of the game - will be rolling out during the first week of March. These include Alyx inspired Steam VR Home environments, alternate gun skins, as well as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive items. Don't forget that the game will work on every available VR solution out right now and offers a myriad of locomotion options as well for comfort.
There is currently a pre-order discount attached to Half-Life: Alyx on Steam, dropping the price by 10% to $53.99 until launch. Meanwhile, for those who aren't familiar with the series, the entire Half-Life collection on Steam is also free-to-play until Alyx releases on March 23.
