CHIP FIRM VIA said it has introduced the Epia V-Series mini-ITX motherboard, a tiny item at 17 by 17 centimeters. The firm claims it's the smallest native X86 motherboard, and it uses the Apollo PLE133 chipset.
Via is selling it with an embedded "Eden" processor core for fanless systems, or alternatively with a C3 E series CPU. The board includes 2D/3D graphics, AC97 audio, 10/100 Ethernet and TV out which supports standards TVs.
The board has one PCI slot, supports up to 1GB SDRAM, and, said Via, is compatible with other mini-ATX chassis as well as cases supporting FlexATX and MicroATX motherboards. Operating systems supported include Linux, Windows XP and 9X, embedded Windows and Windows CE, the firm said.
