Both Michel and Jon have reported that Kaspersky Lab has published an article revealing the discovery of the first mobile phone virus called Cabir.
According to the article at Kaspersky Labs, the virus has been written for Symbian OS, a mobile phone operating system of choice to the major manufacturer such as Nokia. Cabir will be constantly searching for available bluetooth devices and attempt to spread by disguising as Caribe Security Manager utility.
"If the infected file is launched, the telephone screen will display the inscription 'Caribe'. The worm penetrates the system and will then be activated each time the phone is started." said Kaspersky Labs.
So far, there hasn't been a report for any malicious activity caused by the virus. Users are advised to be aware that they should not receive files that they haven't been expecting.
In my opinion, as long as viruses can not spread itself without requiring users's intervention, there is no real reason to worry about your privacy, yet.
