There was a bit of a commotion on Friday night when Walmart started taking pre-orders for the SNES Classic Edition. But, a few days later, it looks like some of those orders that got processed are being canceled. While some might think that the firm is canceling these order to due to product availability, the retailer's support channel is stating the pre-order page wasn't supposed to go live at the time in the first place. Again, not all pre-orders are being canceled, so be sure to check yours if you were able to successfully order.
While those in the other parts of the world can sleep easy at night due to being able to secure a SNES Classic Edition, it looks like folks in the United States will either be stuck once again waiting in long lines on release day or perhaps will maybe get lucky with a retailer opening up a proper pre-order page. Naturally, we won't know until it happens, but we do still have quite a bit of time before the September launch.
Although Nintendo has promised that there will be more quantities of the SNES, it has also stated that there will be a limited run of the product, just like the NES Classic Edition. The console was discontinued a few months back, but miraculously showed up on ThinkGeek's shelves today and sold out immediately.
