The Fatshark developed humanoid rat smashing co-op title, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, arrived on PC back in 2015, followed by a console release in 2016. The game was similar to Valve's Left 4 Dead series, where four characters are put up against hordes of enemies as they try to traverse to a safe location for a getaway.
Today, the developer announced a sequel for the title, arriving with the shorter but appropriate title Warhammer: Vermintide 2. Details on the game are scarce at the moment, with only a teaser trailer lacking any gameplay and a Steam page that harbors a few environmental shots being available. Going by the Steam page's description, the sequel doesn’t seem like it will stray far from the original's design, stating:
Set in the dark and grim Warhammer Fantasy world, you must join forces with up to three other players to tackle the endless hordes of enemies. Equipped with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, you and your team are all that stands between utter defeat and victory - and if you fall so will the Empire.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2's full reveal will be arriving on October 17 at 10am PST on the developer's Twitch channel. While the release date is up in the air for now, the game is confirmed to arrive for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Also, the original game is currently on offer as part of Humble Bundle's newest bundle for less than $5, for those interested.
