The Mobile World Congress is rapidly approaching in Barcelona, Spain, with the trade show starting this Monday (February 27) and lasting through to March 1st. Every year we see an enormous amount of new phones, new technologies and new tablets revealed to the public for the first time, along with previews of upcoming mobile operating systems.
This year two big products will be shown off by Microsoft: Windows Phone “Tango” and the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. While there have been no solid confirmations that Tango will make an appearance it is more than likely; possibly it will be shown during the Nokia keynote on Monday morning. As we all know, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is going to be shown on Wednesday (the 29th) afternoon with the public release to follow.
For smartphone manufacturers we should be seeing some new Windows Phones from Nokia: possibly a low-end Lumia 610 and a European Lumia 900 (910?). Samsung might show off some new tablets but a Galaxy S III reveal is off the table, HTC will probably show off a slew of new handsets and possibly Sense 4.0 and LG will be there to show off their recently released devices.
So what are you most eager to see at MWC? We’re placing our bets that most of you want to see Windows 8 at the trade show, but then again MWC is the main launching ground for new mobile products so you might also be holding off on an upgrade until you see what’s coming soon.
