While not the only blemish on the iPhone 4 past, the white iPhone 4 has been much like a unicorn. What was originally promised by Apple at launch, it now finally appears that the white iPhone 4 will hit retail shelves in late February.
The picture above comes from the Best Buy inventory system, via Macrumors, and shows the 16 GB and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models listed with expected in-stock dates of February 27th. This date comes after the launch of the iPhone on Verizon but it is not known if Verizon users will have the option to purchase the white model.
Apple cited problems with color consistency and light emissions from behind the screen as the reasons for the delay. Apple rarely misses deadlines, so it is plausible that they were facing issues with the manufacturing. Many also believe it was held back after the antennagate saga. While some like to see Apple fail on its obligations, it seems like the white iPhone 4 will not go down the same path as the Phantom console.
