As we approach the launch of the Release Preview version of Windows 8, yet another website claims to have received screenshots to one of the SKU versions. MyDrivers.com has posted up what it says are screenshots from the rumored China-only version of Windows 8.
In March, a rumor claimed that Microsoft was planning to launch a Chinese specific SKU for Windows 8. The rumor article speculated that this SKU version could be cheaper than the normal Windows 8 version to prevent software counterfeiting, which is known to be rampant in China.
These new screenshots not only show Windows 8 running but also a version of the Windows 8 Metro weather app for the Chinese market.
The article also claims that this version does not yet allow access to the Windows Store feature for Windows 8, most likely because Microsoft is waiting for the official Release Preview launch to turn on the Windows Store feature for Release Preview users.
Microsoft is still expected to launch the Windows 8 Release Preview build to the masses sometime in the first week of June; the company has yet to give a specific date for the Release Preview launch. As we have reported before, it will have the version number of 8400.
