It's been a week since the release of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, but it looks like some owners are experiencing unusual battery drain when the device is being put to sleep or standby.
While this isn't necessarily the definitive cause of the above issue, it looks like some users on the Microsoft forums have discovered that the Windows Hello biometric authentication feature could be the culprit. If you are a Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book owner with this issue, the forum is advising that you turn off Windows Hello. To do so, head to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and remove facial Windows Hello login. This should increase battery life and allow for a proper sleep / standby experience.
Naturally, the solution above might not solve your particular issue with battery drain, but it's certainly worth a shot. Hopefully, Microsoft is aware of the issue and working on a proper fix for those that have been affected.
