Windows Messenger 5 kicks off

Finally! you could say. :P Beta testers are receiving notifications that Windows Messenger 5 can be downloaded from BetaPlace. One sharp eyed reader by the name of Koen had already spotted the new icon in his profile on BetaPlace.

The version that can be downloaded is 5.0.0149 and at present there are no test scenarios or report surveys to complete. At first glance it's not much different than 4.7, it does not include the new style that MSN Messenger 5.0 has but it does support ink (Tablet PC) and more services like SIP and Exchange and of course .NET passport.

This version is the same we posted about here more than a month ago! So it's fair to say we might start seeing new versions once the beta is off the ground.
