While Windows 10 Mobile remains in development ahead of its launch later this year, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 is the latest non-preview version of Microsoft's smartphone OS. The company said earlier this year that Update 2 (known also as General Distribution Release 2, or GDR2) would make its way to some, but not all, existing handsets.
GDR2 recently made its way to the Win Q1000, the latest Windows Phone from Indian hardware brand XOLO, and it's now rolling out for one of Microsoft's own devices there. As Windows Central reports, Update 2 is now available for the Lumia 830 in India, bumping the device up to OS version 8.10.15148.160 and firmware version 02540.00019.15236.45004.
Alongside that release, Microsoft is also rolling out firmware updates for three other devices in India. The Lumia 930, Lumia 1320 and Lumia 1520 all have new firmware on the way there, with the update said to include new 4G connection settings for the 930 and 1520.
If you're on the lookout for a new device with Update 2 pre-installed, the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are both available in India with the latest OS version onboard.
