Microsoft has been adding a ton of streaming video apps for its Xbox 360 console since December, with YouTube support added that month and other video content apps such as Crackle and CinemaNow added in January. Now one of the biggest pay cable TV outlets in the US has announced the launch date for its own Xbox Live app.
Engadget reports that during a press event on Monday, HBO said that its HBO Go app will launch on Xbox Live on April 1. HBO Go not only offers the full movie list that the network is running that month, but also full and uncut seasons of current and older HBO shows, such as The Sopranos, True Blood and Game of Thrones. Indeed, the Xbox Live HBO Go app will launch the same day as the second season of HBO's adult fantasy series.
This will be the first time the HBO Go app will be released for a game console. It has previously been released as a PC app along with iOS and Android apps. HBO's sister pay cable network Cinemax also has a streaming video app, MAX Go, but there's no word if that app will be released for the Xbox 360.
