Xbox Games with Gold for April 2017 announced

Microsoft today announced the Games with Gold for April, 2017. If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, you should definitely be taking a look at these every month, as it offers four free games (two Xbox One and two backward compatible Xbox 360), as long as you claim them within the specified dates.

Here are this month's Games with Gold:

Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One, April 1 - 30)

Amidst the chaos of the late Roman Empire, become soldier Marius Titus and embark on a perilous campaign to avenge the death of your family and defend the honor of Rome. In Gladiator Mode, step into the Colosseum and fight for the glory, spectacle, and entertainment of the crowds.

The Walking Dead: Season Two (April 16 - May 15)

The sequel to 2012's Game of the Year continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in an unforgiving world.Experience what it’s like to play as Clementine, meet new survivors, explore new locations and make gruesome decisions in this five-part game series of choice and consequence.

Darksiders (Xbox 360, April 1 - 15)

You are WAR! Caught in an epic struggle between Heaven and Hell, the legendary Horseman is left with only one option- to fight his way out. Wielding the fearsome sword Chaoseater, War must carve a bloody trail through Angels and Demons alike to uncover a dangerous truth...one that may bring about the end of mankind. EXPLORE the streets of a hell-ravaged city or ascend crumbling buildings to face horrors in the sky above. CONQUER Hell’s most terrifying monstrosities using a host of supernatural abilities and devastating combat moves. DESTROY your enemies by unleashing the unstoppable power of your Chaos Form! Darksiders. HEADS. WILL. ROLL.

Assassin's Creed Revelations (Xbox 360, April 16 - 30)

When a man’s battles have been won and his enemies destroyed, what then? Where does he find purpose and meaning? To find answers to these questions, Ezio Auditore will travel east in search of the lost library of the Assassins. In Assassin’s Creed® Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of the legendary mentor Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region. In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, a refined and expanded online multiplayer experience returns with more modes, more maps and more characters, allowing you to test your assassin skills against others from around the world.

Interestingly, neither of the two Xbox 360 games are on the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list just yet. You'll probably see those added at some point between now and when they're offered through Games with Gold.

Also, it's not too late to claim some of this month's Games with Gold. Layers of Fear (Xbox One) and Heavy Weapon (Xbox 360) are available until the end of the month, and you can grab Evolve Ultimate Edition (Xbox One) until April 15.

Microsoft also recently announced the Xbox Game Pass, which will provide access to over 100 games for $10 per month. That should launch this spring, but if you're in the Alpha ring of the Xbox Insider Program, you can try it out until April 7.
