Xbox Live Indie Games Summer Uprising event begins

Xbox Live Indie Arcade is the development platform where independent game developers can release small downloadable games for Microsoft's Xbox 360 platform without a lot of the issues that other larger publishers have to deal with with regular Xbox 360 or Xbox Live Arcade games. However, for the most part sales of Xbox Live Indie Games have been poor and many game developers have blamed Microsoft for not doing enough to promote the games on the service.

Starting this week, a collection of Xbox Live Indie Games development teams are taking matters into their own hands. They have started the "Summer Uprising" promotion that will see a new game released for the service every week day until September 2. The promotion is being handled without any direct efforts from Microsoft. 10 games were selected for promotion during the Summer Uprising with descriptions at the event's official web site. The event started on Monday with the release of the 2D side scroller action game Raventhorne for 240 Microsoft points.

The other games in the Summer Uprising promotion are as follows:

  • Tues Aug 23rd - Battle High: San Bruno (80 Points)
  • Wed Aug 24th - Cute Things Dying Violently (80 Points)
  • Thurs Aug 25th - T.E.C. 3001 (240 Points)
  • Fri Aug 26th - Doom and Destiny (240 Points)
  • Mon Aug 29th - Take Arms (240 Points)
  • Tues Aug 30th - SpeedRunner HD (240 Points)
  • Wed Aug 31st - Train Frontier Express (240 Points)
  • Thurs Sept 1st - Chester (240 Points)
  • Fri Sept 2nd - Redd: The Lost Temple (240 Points)
