Microsoft will announce today that its Xbox Live service, which launched in the US last year, will be available in Australia from October.
Xbox Australia director Alan Bowman told Australian IT. Xbox Live would allow consumers to play video games with friends and strangers anywhere in the world.
All they need is an Xbox Live kit, which will go on sale for $99.95 in October, and a broadband internet connection such as ADSL or cable.
Mr Bowman said Microsoft would not host the games locally but instead connect customers to its Xbox servers in the US.
