It has been one of the longest periods ever without a fully-fledged Nintendo Direct presentation - since they first debuted, of course - but today, Nintendo surprised fans with a Nintendo Direct Mini with no prior announcement. Despite being labeled Mini, it still lasts 25 minutes, and it starts off with the announcement of a release date for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.
First released on the Wii in 2010, Xenoblade Chronicles has since grown into a full franchise with two sequels, Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch. This enhanced edition was first announced in the previous Nintendo Direct in September of last year, and now it has a release date of May 29, as well as a new trailer.
In addition to showcasing the graphics improvements in this release, the trailer also reveals that the definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles will include an epilogue to the original story, referred to as Future Connected. Nintendo also revealed that the game features some re-recorded music, which should help make the experience feel more modern and immersive.
Finally, for the collectors out there, Nintendo announced the Definitive Works set, a special edition of the game that includes a 150-page artbook. If you're buying digitally, the game is available to pre-order today.
