Xiaomi is rumored to launch yet another affordable smartphone, which will be cheaper than any of its current offerings.
Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, has been growing rapidly in many Asian countries and is one of the top manufacturers in China. Aggressive pricing and good hardware has been they key to the company's success. Now, the company is rumored to launch yet another inexpensive smartphone that would disrupt the entry-level devices market once again.
The alleged specifications of the handset include a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, a 1.7 GHz quad core processor from Leadcore coupled with a Mali-T628MP2 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and an expansion slot. On the imaging front, it is said to feature an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. Additionally, the Leadcore chipset supports LTE, but the report does not mention whether the device will be LTE-enabled.
On the software side of things, Xiaomi will provide the device with its MIUI flavour of Android built upon KitKat. The overall hardware specifications that have been rumored are top-notch for the alleged price of 399 Yuan (USD 80) and would definitely shake up things at the entry-level pricepoint.
Xiaomi will be holding an event on March 31 but it's unlikely that we will see this device launch, as the rumored date is April 8.
