Now that Windows Live Hotmail has joined the rest of the crew, most of major free email services available offer free POP3 access along with their webmail access. Yahoo! Mail, however, has been resistant to this change, continuing to insist that users pay a yearly fee to obtain access to their POP3 and forwarding options. This may, finally, be changing.
Users that log into the Yahoo! Mail web interface, proceed to the mail options, and attempt to view the options for POP3 will be presented with the following page:
While this is purely speculative, it could signal that Yahoo! is preparing to grant all of their Mail users access to POP3 and forwarding for free. It makes sense considering every other major player, in the current market, does the same. We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
