Back at last year's Ignite, Microsoft announced an array of new features coming to Teams, one of which was a new app that would provide Yammer integration. The app is also part of a bigger redesign for Yammer. Today, Microsoft announced that a Yammer Communities app is now available from the app store for Teams.
The new app does pretty much what you'd expect - bring Yammer into Teams. With the app, users can access Yammer communities straight from inside Teams, and thus it can be easier to access company announcements on Yammer, and reach more people with the Q&A feature that was added to Yammer last year. Live-streamed events, with conversations and Q&A sessions, also become easily accessible through the Yammer integration.
Yammer integration in Teams comes at a time when there are a lot of people working from home, with Teams claiming 44 million daily active users. In light of the service's growing popularity, Microsoft has been pushing out even more updates for Teams at this time, with improvements such as the ability to view more participants in a video call at the same time.
The new Yammer app is available in the Teams app store under the name Communities, and it can be installed on desktop and web versions of Teams. Microsoft says it will be available for mobile users in the future, too. In the meantime, you can use the new Yammer mobile app, which was released at the end of March.
