Instagram has been busy adding new features to its photo and video-sharing platform, including the ability to overlay stickers onto your Stories post. Through that same sticker feature, you can now add a licensed soundtrack to your Instagram Stories post as part of a new update.
The Facebook-owned company says there are thousands of songs in Instagram's library of licensed soundtracks that you can choose from, with the service promising to add more music each day.
To use the new feature, simply tap on the button for adding a sticker to your story and click on the new music icon. It allows you to find a specific song or make a search according to what fits your mood or genre preference. You can also preview a song and sift through your chosen soundtrack in order to pick a specific portion that you want to play for your post.
For iOS users, there's also an option to select a song before recording a video using a new "Music" option found below the record button. Instagram vows to roll out that particular option to Android users in the future.
Instagram has released the music sticker to selected countries as part of Instagram version 51 for both Android and iOS devices, with a global rollout expected to follow soon. The new feature comes as the company revealed that the app is now being used by 400 million users every day, another milestone for Instagram which recently hit the one billion-user mark.
