Google Assistant recently gained new capabilities including the ability to tell you stories and make payments on your behalf. The artificial intelligence-powered personal assistant never seems to stop growing its skills, the latest of which lets you quickly purchase tickets to the movies you've been waiting for by just using your voice, courtesy of a partnership between Google and online ticketing firm Fandango.
As part of the tie-up, you can now ask Google Assistant to help you find the newest movies playing near you or show you the latest trailers, among other actions. Google Assistant will then display a selection of movie theaters and schedules of your favorite flicks. After deciding which films to watch, you can simply say "buy tickets" or “Hey Google, get me tickets for...” followed by the movie title you want to see. Once you've ordered the tickets, you can then reserve a seat using Fandango or other ticketing apps.
The new Google Assistant action went live on May 4th in celebration of the "Star Wars Day", a marketing holiday dedicated to the fans of the space opera media franchise. The new capability also kicked off in conjunction with the start of the sale period for the tickets of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which opens on May 25th. The video below shows how to buy movie tickets with Google Assistant.
Additionally, Google is offering huge deals and discounts on Star Wars apps, games, movies, e-books, audiobooks, and more in the Google Play Store.
