Tile already has a number of partners making use of its location tracking technology, including Intel and Xfinity. Today, it announced that it's expanding its Bluetooth tracking system to wearables through a partnership with Fitbit.
Owners of Fitbit’s Inspire 2 will be able to locate their fitness trackers using Tile’s Bluetooth-enabled location tracking system with a new update that's rolling out starting today. You'll need first to update your device software in the Fitbit app to enable Bluetooth tracking. After that, you'll be asked to download and turn on the Tile app.
Finding your Inspire 2 device at home is easier with the Tile app. However, to locate a lost or misplaced Fitbit device beyond the Bluetooth range, you can check its most recent location in the Tile app or use Tile's global crowd-sourced network. You can also ring your phone even if its silent mode is turned on using the Inspire 2, assuming the fitness tracker is connected to your phone via Bluetooth.
The partnership marks the first such alliance between Tile and a wearable device firm. Fitbit introduced the Inspire 2 fitness tracker in August of last year along with the Versa 3 and the all-new Fitbit Sense.
Inspire 2 owners can also access smart alerts and other premium services by signing up for Tile Premium for $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
