You can relive your youth with Windows 95, which now comes as an Electron app

If you've been using your shiny new Windows 10 PC and have been yearning for the old days of Windows 95, today is your lucky day. The legacy operating system is now available as an app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Yes, really.

The Electron app is open source, and you can find it on GitHub, along with executable installation files for the platforms it supports.

Everything seems to work fine, with the exception of a few things. Internet Explorer just throws an error message whenever you try to load a website. Also, it doesn't recognize drives on your PC, so you can't exactly throw in your old Microsoft Bob disk and install it.

But still, looking at old versions of Windows is always a lot of fun, and while you'll probably get bored of it sooner rather than later, you can still get a taste of what Windows used to be like. It was a time when Microsoft didn't load up your PC with games you don't want like Candy Crush Saga, and Solitaire was a staple of the OS, and didn't have advertisements.

The app is made by Felix Rieseberg, and if you're a Windows fan, you should definitely check it out. Hopefully, someone will figure out how to load other software onto it, like Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Bob, the original Office suite, WordPerfect, Lotus, The Oregon Trail, and more.
