Universal Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server. UMS was started by SubJunk, an official developer of PMS, in order to ensure greater stability and file-compatibility. The program streams or transcodes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by MEncoder, FFmpeg, tsMuxeR, AviSynth, MediaInfo and more, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats. Because it is written in Java, Universal Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Dependencies:
- Updated MediaInfo to 18.12 on Windows and macOS
Notes:
- These releases work on all versions of Java 7 onwards.
- The Windows releases work on Windows Vista onwards.
- We noticed a bug with the macOS installer where sometimes it failed to update the version, so we have stopped releasing that for now. The macOS releases are back to being disk images by default.
- This post covers the release of both 8.0.0 and 8.0.1, since they were released closely together.
- This release includes an update to the database, which will mean the initial startup scan will take longer the first time it runs. It will be much faster on subsequent scans.
