A year and a half ago, I reviewed the first Kindle Oasis, calling it the best Kindle that $360 can buy. The snarky title aside, I truly love that device, and it was probably my favorite tech purchase of 2016. If you love to read, then it's the best experience that you can get.
But earlier this month, Amazon announced a second-generation model (it's actually called the ninth generation since it's the ninth wave of Kindles), and there are some changes. The screen is bigger at seven inches, compared to six.
The new Kindle Oasis also ditches the battery cover that was found on the last one. This is great, because that battery cover was terrible, so I understand why they got rid of it. There was always a connection issue.
On top of all of that, you get built-in Audible, which is Amazon's audiobooks service. You can connect the device to a pair of Bluetooth headphones and start listening to your favorite books. With WhisperSync, Amazon automatically syncs your place in the book between devices, and between the Kindle and Audible books.
