Earlier this week at its I/O 2019 developer conference, Google announced the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The firm pointed out the trend of rising prices in flagship smartphones, and said that it set out to do something about it. The result is the Pixel 3a series, promising premium features at a lower price point.
In fact, the handsets really don't seem to be missing much that you'll find on the Pixel 3 proper, except that there's no wireless charging. It's also powered by a Snapdragon 670 chipset, which would mean that it's sacrificing 4K 60fps video capture if Google ever supported that on the higher-end models in the first place.
The Pixel 3a series includes the features that we all know and love, such as the 12.2MP f/1.8 main camera and an 8MP front camera. Of course, it supports Night Sight, the feature that lets you capture great images in low-light settings. You also get Now Playing, which tells you which songs are playing on the always-on display.
