Last December, we reviewed Huawei's Mate 10 Pro, a device with a 'Neural Processing Unit' that could be used for AI and machine learning. The new Honor View10 has suspiciously similar specs, with the same Kirin 970 chipset, a 5.99-inch 2160x1080 display, 6GB RAM, and 128GB of internal storage.
But one big difference is that the Honor View10 costs $499, which is $300 cheaper than the Mate 10 Pro. After all, the Honor brand is largely about offering value for the money that you spend on a device. There are also no Leica cameras on the View10; instead, you'll find dual 16MP/20MP sensors on the rear, and a 13MP camera on the front.
The Neural Processing Unit allows for the camera to see what it's looking at. For example, if you point it at flowers, it will know that it's looking at flowers and adjust settings accordingly. This idea is spread throughout other areas of the device though. The NPU will also learn how you use the phone, and will optimize battery life for it.
The Honor View10 is available in the United States now for $499, and it comes in blue and black. As you can see, we were sent the blue one. Here's our unboxing video:
