Announced at CES alongside various other ThinkPads, the Lenovo's T480 is designed to be a workhorse. It's MIL-STD 810G tested, which means that it can withstand extreme temperatures, high humidity, it's dust and sand resistant, it can handle shocks, and more.
But that's not all, because you can also hot swap the battery. There's an internal 24Wh battery, and an external one that can be 24Wh, 48Wh, or 72Wh. You can swap out that external battery without ever having to power down the PC.
And like all of the ThinkPads that Lenovo announced this year, it includes Intel's new eighth-generation U-series processors, which are quad-core. This means that there's an increase in performance over the old dual-core chips.
There's also a privacy guard on the camera, which Lenovo is calling ThinkShutter. This means that you'll no longer have to think about putting a piece of tape over your webcam. You can just flip a switch.
The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and carbon fiber, so it feels pretty rugged in use. Here's our unboxing video:
