Last week, I got my hands on the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga, and now it's time to check out its clamshell sibling. The ThinkPad X13 is, well, cheaper than the Yoga, and that's about it. The Yoga is actually a bit lighter than this one, so the price is really all the clamshell has going for it.
That, and the fact that the clamshell can be configured with AMD's Ryzen PRO 4000 processors, and this one comes with a Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U. In my testing with Ryzen 4000 so far, a Ryzen 5 is more comparable to an Intel Core i7, as opposed to the Core i5 that it's supposed to be stacked up against. The Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U has six cores and 12 threads, along with a 15W TDP. It's also built on a 7nm process, unlike Intel's 14nm Comet Lake vPro chips that are available in the Intel variants of this PC.
Of course, that means that you'll have to give up on Thunderbolt 3, which is pretty much the only downside to going with AMD. Check out the unboxing video below:
