While companies like Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei are focused on making phones with foldable screens, LG is focusing on a dual-screen experience. The V60 ThinQ 5G is the third such effort from the Korean firm, following the V50 and the G8X.
It does so with an accessory creatively named the Dual Screen, rather than actually making a dual-screen phone. The Dual Screen accessory adds a second display that's identical to the primary one, right down to the notch. Using the exact same panel allows for the same color calibration between the two screens, so I'm told.
The experience has been improved for the V60 ThinQ 5G. More apps can span both screens now, and that includes Google apps like Chrome, Gmail, and more. Also, you can finally use a third-party launcher with the second screen, something that was a real pain point for me with the G8X.
The handset itself packs a Snapdragon 865 chipset, sub6 5G support, 8GB RAM, and a 6.8-inch FHD+ display. Presumably, LG didn't go for QHD because it didn't want to tax the GPU too much when adding the second screen. After all, a big feature of the Dual Screen accessory is the ability to use the second display as a gaming controller.
