Earlier this week, nubia's RedMagic brand announced the preorder dates for the upcoming RedMagic 5S gaming phone, which will open on August 26. The phone is a revision of the RedMagic 5G I reviewed earlier this year, so the design and specs are very similar, with a Snapdragon 865 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
The biggest standout feature of the RedMagic 5S is the improved cooling system, with the company claiming to have the world's first phone to use silver as part of its cooling solution. In addition to that, the RedMagic 5S is arriving alongside a new accessory, the Ice Dock, which promises to cool down the phone even more for better-sustained performance. The phone also has faster storage, having upgraded to UFS 3.1 from UFS 3.0.
Ahead of its release, RedMagic sent us the Pulse variant of the 5S, which is the top-tier configuration, and it comes in a dual-tone red and blue color scheme. The company also sent us the Ice Dock accessory, so we'll be able to see just how much better performance can get, and whether the better cooling can make up for the slightly slower chipset compared to the Snapdragon 865+.
RedMagic has yet to announce a proper release date for the phone, or a price. While you wait for that - and for our full review - you can watch our hands-on video below.
