nubia's Red Magic brand has left me with a good impression in the past, thanks to the powerhouse that was the Red Magic 3. Now, the gaming smartphone brand is back with a successor, the Red Magic 3S, which includes some upgraded hardware.
Specifically, this new model now has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset, instead of the Snapdragon 855. The internal storage was also upgraded to UFS 3.0, something we started seeing in high-end phones halfway through 2019. Aside from that, the phone shares a lot with its predecessor - it comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and a 90Hz display. The cameras, battery, and speakers are also the same as before.
One thing that's changed is the colors the phone is available in. The model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage can be had in either Eclipse Black or Mecha Silver, and the 12GB/256GB comes in a Cyber Shade gradient. Both models cost the same as their respective predecessors, so it's $479 for the former, and $599 for the latter. Without further ado, here are our first impressions:
