Amazon expands in-garage delivery service to more than 4,000 U.S. cities

Amazon announced today that it is expanding its in-garage delivery service, which was originally launched in 50 cities, to more the 4,000 cities across the U.S. to reach "tens of millions of Prime members." Under the service, Prime members can have packages delivered in a contactless manner inside their garage, and receive delivery confirmation using the Key by Amazon app.

The service is now being expanded to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington D.C., Houston, Boston, Atlanta, Phoenix, and thousands of surrounding cities. You can check if your zip code is eligible from this page.

The Seattle firm is also making the service available for deliveries that come from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods. However, this is only available in select areas, which include Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.

To use this service, Prime users are required to have a myQ smart garage door opener, which they need to link with Key using the app. After selecting “FREE In-Garage Delivery” at checkout on Amazon.com, they can start receiving packages as part of their Prime membership. Using a smart home camera from Ring or LiftMaster, they can also view their deliveries happening in real-time.
