Dell Mobile Connect now lets you transfer files from your iPhone to Windows 10

At CES this year, Dell introduced some new iOS integration features that are coming to its Mobile Connect service. Today, those features are arriving in version 3.0 of the app.

There are three key new features, all of which were possible with Android but are now compatible with iOS:

  • Screen mirroring
  • File transfer
  • You no longer have to have the app open to send an SMS message

Dell Mobile Connect has long been one of very few options to send and receive text messages from a PC, if you've got an iPhone (Android is a lot more open). Even Microsoft's own Your Phone app only works with Android. But while Mobile Connect has always supported sending and receiving SMS, the above features make it even more formidable over competitors.

Screen mirroring and file transfer with an iPhone would normally require an Apple PC, using AirPlay and AirDrop, respectively. Dell said that it didn't use Apple's proprietary technologies for this though. Also, that third feature is significant, as you previously did have to have the app open to send a text message.

Dell Mobile Connect is officially available on any modern Dell PC, although it does seem to be available on the Microsoft Store for anyone.
