Capcom's Monster Hunter action RPG franchise expanded earlier this year with another mainline entry, but only Nintendo Switch owners got access. Soon though, PC players will finally be able to jump into Monster Hunter Rise and get their coopeartive action fix.

As announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2021 showcase, Monster Hunter Rise is slated to hit Steam on January 12. With the original release being a Switch game, fans can expect a huge bump to performance and visual clarity on the PC port. Capcom said it will include high-resolution textures, ultrawide display support, uncapped frame rates, advanced graphics settings, keyboard and mouse controls with rebinding and secondary keys, voice chat, and other optimizations.

The recommended system requirements are as follows for 1080p 30FPS play with graphics set to "Average":

  • OS: Windows10(64-BIT Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX™-8300
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 1060 (VRAM 3GB) or AMD Radeon RX 570 (VRAM 4GB)
  • Storage: 23GB available space
  • DirectX: Version 12

As evident by its name, the game is all about battling, capturing, and hunting monsters. 14 weapon types are available this time, from great swords and lances to bowguns, suiting various play styles. Hunting provides materials that allow crafting of better weapons and armor, which in turn can help hunt even bigger monsters as the storyline progresses.

Capcom is giving fans an opportunity to try the PC port out before launch, with a demo coming out on October 13, which will be playable both solo and in co-op as players attempt to take on five quests, including a hunt of the game's flagship monster Magnamalo. The demo will be about 10GB in size according to the developer.

Pre-orders for Monster Hunter Rise are now available on Steam with a $59.99 price tag. There is also a Deluxe Edition for $69.99 that carries additional cosmetic items.
