'The Atom' announced for Injustice 2 with a new trailer

Even before all the new characters from Fighter Pack 2 DLC have arrived for Injustice 2, Netherrealm Studios has unveiled a new hero from the yet to be announced Fighter Pack 3 DLC. The new fighter is Atom, and his surprising reveal trailer came during CW's Chasing the Cup Injustice 2 special yesterday.

Considering The Atom is a protagonist in DC's Legends of Tomorrow series on the CW, the premature reveal makes sense. However, unlike the TV show, this Atom is not Ray Palmer, with the trailer description saying the following:

Physics prodigy Ryan Choi took on the mantle of the Atom when his mentor — and original Atom —Ray Palmer mysteriously disappeared. Now armed with quantum shrinking technology, Ryan will use the subatomic power of the quantum bio-belt to seek out his lost friend and further the fight for justice.

As seen in the trailer, The Atom stays true to his name, where we see him bouncing on individual atoms before expanding to a more respectable size. The Atom's shrinking and expanding capabilities are used quite heavily in the combos he uses against opponents, even growing to the size of a giant to smash Reverse Flash in one scene.

With Fighter Pack 2 DLC's Black Manta and Raiden now available and only Hellboy yet to be released, we should be getting a Fighter Pack 3 trailer soon after.
