Removing Mcafee

Question

Greeting everyone,

I'm trying to install Kaspersky on a machine. During the install it tells me that Mcafee VirusScan Home Edition needs to be removed. So, first i looked under Add/Remove programs and its not there. Next, i did a google search and found the Mcafee Uninstaller Tool. Ran the tool, went to install Kaspersky again and no go. So, i looked though the log that the uninstaller left me for any unremoved files, reg entries, etc... and it still says that Mcafee is in there. The machine im working on is a windows 2000 machine, i found the following folder... C:\winnt\mcafee.com\freescan. my next thought was you unregister the dll's contained in that folder that didn't help me either. so at this point im stuck and have no clue how to get Kaspersky to install. any help would be greatly appreciated!

i tried using these tools so far... VSCleanupTool, MCPR & MCPR2. and i cleaned the registry using a couple different programs. i've been at this thing for hours already, but no matter what i do, somehow kaspersky detects mcafee still.

wihout their good removal tool you'll never succeed .
