Cricket Wireless is getting a brand new and rather interesting mid-range smartphone in the form of the Android 7.0 Nougat-powered Alcatel PULSEMIX, which features back covers that enhance the device further.
The Alcatel PULSEMIX features mid-range specifications and is priced at just $79.99 for new activations. It must be noted that a minimum data plan worth $30 also needs to be subscribed to in addition to the activation charge while purchasing the device.
Under the hood the device features mid-range specifications which are as follows:
- 5.2-inch HD (1280x720) LCD with scratch-resistant Asahi Dragontrail Glass
- MediaTek MT6738 1.5 GHz quad-core processor
- 2 GB RAM
- 16 GB internal storage, support for microSD cards upto 128 GB
- 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras
- 2800 mAh battery
- Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C
- Android 7.0 Nougat
The device's price may seem like a good deal, but these specifications clearly show where the corners have been cut. There is no fingerprint sensor, no NFC and a rather dated chipset. The novelty feature of the PULSEMIX is of course the attachable SNAPBAK covers, which are similar to Lenovo's Moto Mods.
Currently, Alcatel has made three SNAPBAK covers available, which include the LightUp SNAPBAK, the Sound SNAPBAK and the Power SNAPBAK covers. These are sold separately, but the company is currently running a buy one get one free offer on those.
The Alcatel PULSEMIX can be purchased from Cricket Wireless' website with a qualifying plan.
