AMD-based Surface Laptop 3 gets firmware and driver updates

Microsoft has released a series of updates to the AMD-based models of the Surface Laptop 3, which was launched late last year. The only models available with AMD processors are the 15-inch consumer versions, and it looks like the Intel variants aren't getting any updates this time around. The AMD version has been getting more updates than the Intel variant so far.

According to Microsoft, the updates were actually released on July 2, even though the support page was only updated now to include them, so you may already have received them over the past few days. They come with a range of improvements and fixes to some issues, which should make the overall experience better.

As usual, the updates are only available for users running Windows 10 version 1903 - the May 2019 Update - or newer, but every Surface Laptop 3 should meet those requirements seeing as they released long after that update. There's no specific indication that the update is rolling out gradually, but that's often the case with firmware updates, so you may or may not see it right now.

If you're interested in it, you can get the updates manually by checking for updates in the Settings app. It's likely they'll install automatically soon enough, though.
