Today, Activision released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard. The game is a first-person shooter that's set during World War II. However, there's a slight twist to the campaign this time around. Instead of playing through a standard historical scenario, you lead an internal special operations team to take down a new Nazi commander who wants to bring about the Fourth Reich. Suffice to say, he needs to be stopped.
Your team is made up of soldiers who have their own demons to wrestle with. It's unclear how individual backstories affect the campaign, but there may be problems because you're teaming up with people who have issues with authority.
The next-generation visuals presented in the trailer are spectacular, and it appears to be running at a smooth 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. Aside from the story snippets, the lighting and particle effects are the highlight of the video. Seeing so many explosions and smoke at the same time definitely enhances immersion and builds tension. There are a lot of rather dramatic set-piece moments too.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is expected to launch on November 5, 2021, starting at $59.99. You can purchase the game through the Microsoft Store or the platform of your choice, like PlayStation or PC. When pre-ordering, there are a number of editions to choose from that give you access to post-launch content and much more.
