Chinese FCC equivalent approves low cost 4000mAh battery smartphone

The Chinese equivalent of the FCC, TENAA, has certified the Xiaomi Redmi 3A. The Redmi lineup from Xiaomi is considered to consist of low-end devices; however, the Redmi 3A comes packed with a huge 4000mAh battery, which is not too far off the high-end Mi Max's battery. Astonishingly, the phone will cost Chinese customers the equivalent of just $91.23 USD, or 599 Yuan.

The giant 4000mAh battery will power the following hardware:

  • 5-inch display – 720 x 1280 HD resolution
  • Snapdragon 435 chipset – octa-core 1.4GHz CPU, Andreno 505 GPU
  • 2GB LPDDR3 RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • Cat.7 LTE modem
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi adapter
  • Operating system: Android 6.0.1

The Xiaomi Redmi 3A is expected to arrive in silver and gold variations. Documentation of the device also suggests that it will come with a fingerprint reader, which on Android allows you to do a range of things including unlocking your phone to making Play Store purchases.

Overall, this device comes with mediocre specs. However, with its large battery and low price point, it'll definitely be an interesting device to look at when setting out to pick up a new smartphone.
