Sid Meier's Civilization VI is soon invading a couple of brand new platforms, with 2K Games announcing today that the turn-based strategy title will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 22 this year. See the PlayStation version's announcement trailer above, which Sony released during its State of Play today. An official Xbox One trailer should arrive later today during the Inside Xbox stream.
This is not the first time the massively popular 4X game has breached the console space, with a Nintendo Switch version coming last year. Still, this makes it the first time a game from the main Civilization series has arrived to the Xbox and PlayStation platforms in over 20 years, disregarding the 2008 Civilization Revolution spin-off release.
Civilization VI will cost $59.99 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, giving players the full base game as well as Poland, Australia, Persia, and Macedonia civilizations plus the Vikings scenario pack. Those wanting the complete experience will have to drop another $49.99 for the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm Expansion Bundle, which arrive as a separate purchase. This bundle will also be available for purchase for the aforementioned Nintendo Switch version.
PlayStation 4 players are getting some extra goodies, however, with Khmer, Indonesia, and Nubia civilization and scenario packs coming with the base game for free. Xbox One players can buy these separately.
