In a blog post, Microsoft announced that Disney is running a promotion from now until September 7 where the company is giving away a free digital copy of Monsters, Inc. All you need to do is sign up for Disney Movies Anywhere and link an account.
If you're not familiar with Disney Movies Anywhere, it launched last September as a sort of central hub for your Disney collection, and it does something that's incredibly rare among digital content services. Once you link your accounts, all of your Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars movies are imported into your Disney Movies Anywhere account, and then you'll also own them on all of your linked accounts.
Supported services include Microsoft, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and Vudu. To put it simply, if you purchased Star Wars: The Force Awakens from iTunes, and then linked all of your accounts to the service, you'll then own that title on Microsoft's Movies & TV, Google Play, Amazon, and Vudu. It's a terrific solution for the Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars fan that can't be tied down to a single platform.
And as a bonus, you'll get Monsters, Inc. just for linking your accounts. The movie will be yours to keep, as long as you do it before the expiration date on September 7.
Update: Disney Movies Anywhere is only available in the United States. Thanks to the commenters for the tips!
