Forza Horizon 5's PC system requirements are here, and they aren't that demanding

During the Tokyo Game Show 2021 Xbox event today, Microsoft and Playground Games unveiled the official PC system requirements of Forza Horizon 5, the next entry in the massively popular open-world racing franchise.

The requirements can now be found on the Steam and Microsoft Store pages of the title, replacing the estimations found before. Here are the details:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows 10 version 15063.0 or higher
  • Processor: Intel i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD RX 470
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 110 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows 10 version 15063.0 or higher
  • Processor: Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD RX 590
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 110 GB available space

The hardware, even on the recommended side, is quite tame compared to other releases nowadays, with it only requesting graphics cards and CPUs from at least four years back.

What's unclear is the sort of a performance these specifications are targeting. For example, minimum could be aimed at hitting 60FPS at 1080p with medium settings, while recommended could be 60FPS 1440p at high settings, we just don't know yet. The title also features raytracing, though only in ForzaVista mode, which would require a much newer generation GPU.

Support for ultrawide displays, uncapped frame rates, HDR, field-of-view changing, haptic feedback on Xbox Wireless Controllers, as well as a range of steering wheel addons from Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec are also included on the PC version.

Forza Horizon 5 is launching on November 9 across PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass. The racer's flashy opening sequence as well as the full list of over 400 cars that will be available at launch were unveiled recently as well.

UPDATE: Playground Games has now also shared an 'Ideal Specifications' list:

  • Processor: Intel i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD RX 6800 XT
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 110 GB SSD

It seems this is what fans will need in their systems to experience the game in high resolutions and utilize the raytracing features.
