HMD Global has been one of the best Android smartphone makers in terms of updates. Right now, eight of the company's phones are running Android Pie, seven of which received an update from Oreo, with the Nokia 8.1 launching with the latest version already on board.
Now, the company has disclosed its Pie update roadmap for the rest of its devices in talks with Android Authority. According to the report, two more phones, the Nokia 3.1 Plus and 5 will be getting a taste of the latest version of Android in the "next few days", which could be as soon as this week. The report emphasizes that it's a matter of days, and not weeks. After that, the Nokia 6 should take another week or two to get its own update.
The last two phones to receive Android Pie will be the Nokia 1 and Nokia 3, both of which interestingly run on the same MediaTek chipset. The duo will receive the update sometime at the beginning of the second quarter of this year. The Nokia 1 is part of the Android Go program, so that update will be a little different from the regular version of Android Pie.
The licensee of the Nokia brand didn't provide details in regards to updates for other phones, but the remainder of the lineup will get Pie before the Nokia 1 and 3. That includes phones such as the Nokia 2, 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1. This would mean that HMD takes less than a year to update its entire portfolio of phones to the latest version of Android, which is pretty impressive in comparison to other OEMs.
